About Us & News
Wooldown House was originally a full board guest house, bought in 1934 by Roger's Mum and Dad. Cyder Cottage was bought in 1937. In the early 1940's Sunny Corner was also purchased. Wooldown was changed into self catering in 1972. Roger and Susan took over the business when they got married in 1974.
Since then, there has been many changes, the Woolbarn was converted in 1998, and the three barns (The Olde Coach House, Wagoners, Stable Barn) were converted in 2001. Sunny Corner has been completely refurbished in May 2006. The Woolbarn was refurbished in April 2007. Wooldown Farmhouse has now been refurbished in April 2008.
After 18 months of building work, the five brand new luxury barns just for couples was completed on the 8th August 2008.
We know how important your holiday is, we go on holiday too (occasionally!), and we all worry about what to expect, that's why we work hard to make sure our property won't let you down.

We now have seven cottages that are perfect for a romantic break away. They are all very popular for celebrating anniversaries and for honeymoon.
As well as a welcome tray with home cooked cakes, tea and coffee which is normally provided in all our cottages on arrival, let us know your celebrating something special and we will do our best to arrange the little extras, such as wine, chocolates and fresh flowers.

Couples with babies please read: Couples with babies under 10 months at time of holiday can be accommodated in either the Woolbarn or Stable Barn. There is no room for a cot in the Woolbarn bedroom, please also consider safety as both properties are open plan, inc. the Stable Barn which has an open stair case. - if you have a baby over 10 months you could consider our larger properties.

Families - a great place for family holidays!
Being just a few miles from a variety of ten beaches on the North Coast, the most popular with families is Widemouth Bay (2 miles) with excellent facilities for all.
As well as each property having their own private garden, there is a large communal play area for ball games and a trampoline (trampoline available from Easter until the end of October half term).
If required we can provide cots, high chairs and stair gates free of charge.

Cornwall is blessed with spectacular coastlines and countryside. All cottages are situated on our spacious complex, on the outskirts of the village of Marhamchurch. The village has a small shop and Post Office for all the essentials, as well as a very good family friendly pub and restuarant serving evening meals and Sunday Carvaries. Both are just a short 10 minute stroll from all our cottages.
The idylic, seaside town of Bude is extremly popular year round is just 2 miles from Wooldown. It has a good selection of shops, supermarkets, restaurants and pubs.
There are a variety of events held in Bude througout the year, such as Bude Carnival and Bude Jazz Festival.
There are seven main beaches all within a few miles of Wooldown Farm including Widemouth Bay renowned for its good surf, and Summerleaze and Crooklets on the edge of Bude.
Padstow and Rock (50 mins drive approx) famous for their fishing and beauty are nearby as are historic Boscastle and Tintagel (25 mins drive approx) with quaint villages such as Trebarwith Strand. Travelling north you come to Welcombe Mouth, the picture postcard village of Clovelly (30 mins drive approx). Inland are the moors, Jamaica Inn, Bodmin (50 mins drive approx), and across to Plymouth , Falmouth, Fowey (75 mins drive approx) and so many other interesting and welcoming locations to suit all interests and tastes.

Activities in the area
There are many activities available for you to enjoy while you stay at Wooldown Farm.
'Splash' swimming pool in Bude and 'Harlequinns' leisure (just opposite) has 10 ten pin bowling lanes and one of the biggest indoor childrens adventure play areas in the South West perfect for a rainy day.
Approx 30 minutes away (drive) is The Milky Way Adventure Park, with live shows, slides and rides, there are many other adventure parks in Cornwall which you will find out about in the information pack provided at the start of your holiday.
Surfing
There are at least seven surf beaches to choose from within 5 miles from Wooldown Farm. If you have never surfed before, there are several very good surf schools in Bude, including:

Walks
Cornwall has 300 miles of coastal footpath, which forms part of the South West Coast Path. A very popular route is to take the foot path along the old canal into Bude.

Cycling
North Cornwall has some great cycling coastal routes. The coastline is the highest in Cornwall, offering spectacular views. There are a great variety of routes to enjoy from idyllic rural routes, family routes to challenging off road routes. You could bring your own bikes, or you can hire them in at Bude (2 miles away). You can also cycle the popular old canal into Bude.

Golfing
There are several golf courses in the area such as Holsworthy, Trethorne and Launceston. The closest is the Bude & North Cornwall Golf Club which is located in the center of Bude surrounded by the town, coast and countryside. Another very good golf course is Ivyleaf, which is open 7 days a week and no booking is required.
Watersports
North Cornwall is the ideal place for a range of watersports whether its out at sea or at the Tamar Lakes (approx 20 minute drive away) where the watersports centre at the Upper Tamar offers sailling, windsurfing and kayaking for indivudals, families and groups. Visitors can benifit from tution from their qualified instructors and also hire equipment.
Fishing
In Cornwall you are never far away from river, sea or stillwater. The Tamar Lakes (approx 20 minute drive away) can be enjoyed by coarse anglers where permits are available from the permit kiosk on site at the Upper Tamar.

Wooldown Farmhouse built in 1906, is a substantial self contained wing of our Farmhouse. The upstairs lounge with a bay view window has superb unrivalled panoramic views across the surrounding countryside and to the sea at Bude. Wooldown Farmhouse is ideal for the whole family, there is a large garden, and also just a short walk on the farm is a communal play area with swings and a trampoline (available from Easter until October half term).
Many visitors like to be up early having breakfast on the lawn watching the sunrise, enjoying the peace, hearing nothing but the birds twitter, and in the evening having a barbeque, while the sun sets.
On the ground floor there is a large open plan bay-windowed dining area with a fully fitted kitchen. There is a breakfast bar and a sitting area with 37" LCD television (inc DVD). There is a bedroom with a bespoke four poster bed along with TV. The washing machine and tumble dryer are contained in a wooden unit/dressing table. Opposite the bedroom is a bathroom which has a WC, spa bath and an over-bath shower. A stunning Victorian staircase is centrally located in this part of the house along with a piano.
The first floor has a large sitting room together with electric wood burner effect fire, and a 37" LCD television (inc Video and DVD player). In the afternoon enjoy high tea while looking over the rolling patchwork fields, and sea views, from the panoramic bay view window which is adjoined and offers extra seating. All upstairs bedrooms have sea views, and wash basins. The main bedroom has a king-size Victorian brass four poster bed. There is one double, twin and a single bedroom. The single bedroom leads off from the lounge. The bathroom has a WC, and bath with power shower.

Originally built in 1907 as stables for Wooldown House, its high wood ceilings, and stable brick flooring of which has been individually removed and used for the court yard. The barn was converted in 2001, and now offers a large double bedroom with glorious views.

This was the old milking parlour where, up until 4 years ago, the Blewett family were milking 100 cows here. Pengenna Parlour is beneath the Corn Keep.

The Corn Keep offers a fully open plan layout all on the first floor, perfect for two, including a striking luxury copper bath in the bedroom. A small bathroom with WC and walk in shower is also in the bedroom area.
The Corn Keep offers amazing panoramic views of the area - hard to find at many other properties in the area. -- This property is on the first floor accessed by stairs from the central courtyard area. This upper floor barn has been added on to Pengenna Parlour, there was a corn bin attached to the east wall which was a little higher than the roof height as it is now.

Arrival & Departure
All properties are available from 4.00pm on the day of arrival until 10.00am on the day of departure unless otherwise agreed (View for Two properties departure time is: 10.15 am).
If you arrive earlier into Cornwall, please telephone us and we may be able to let you into the property earlier if it has been fully cleaned and prepared for your arrival.
We recommend you print our directions.
A welcome tray with home made cakes, sachets of tea and coffee are normally provided in each property before your arrival.
Towels
You can hire towels from us @ £3 per person (this includes a hand and a bath towel) Beach towels are not provided. Towels are provided free of charge in: Wooldown Farmhouse, Wenna's Well, Buttermilk Barn, Dewdrop Dairy, Pengenna Parlour, Corn Keep and the Woolbarn. This can be done when booking or at any time during your stay.
Bed linen
All beds are made prior to your arrival. We do not provide cot linen.
Cot & Highchair
If you require a travel cot and highchair (stair gates are provided in some properties) please state this upon booking.
Kitchen
All kitchens are fully equipped so you should'nt need to bring your own cooking equipment, if you cannot find anything that should be in the property just let us know and we will do our best to help. Morrison's supermarket is just 2 miles away and the village shop is a few minutes walk for any essentials.
A vacuum cleaner, iron and iron board is provided in all properties.
