At the start

Wooldown House was originally a full board guest house, bought in 1934 and run by Roger's Mum and Dad. Wooldown was changed into self catering in 1972, a few years later Roger and Susan Blewett took over the business.

Converted first two person property, the Woolbarn.

Conversion of courtyard properties into the Wagoners and the Olde Coach House (both sleeping up to 8 persons) and the Stable Barn (sleeping 2).

Over the years, Roger built up a heard of 100 dairy cows.  Diversifying into beef for two more years, until 2006 when plans to start work on the farm buildings went ahead.

Converted the old milking dairy and parlour into six two person retreats:

  • Wenna's Well

  • Buttermilk Barn

  • Dewdrop Dairy

  • Pengenna Parlour

  • Corn Keep

  • Nest Box

Cyder Cottage which was offered as self catering for a family of five, was sold.

This summer saw the completion of a further four more two person retreats, creating:

  • Stargazey

  • Moonshine

  • Milky Way

  • Shooting Star

Sunny Corner (previously known as Rowbarton) accommodated up to 5 persons, was sold at the start of the year.

The original full board guest house, which operated as a wing of the main house, as an eight person self catering unit had it's last season.  Part of the main house was downsized into The View and an additional retreat, Bijou was completed August 2015.

After 15 years, our two family properties, The Olde Coach House and the Wagoners hosted their last season with work starting on the conversion into six more two person units.

We've been busy over the last 18 months with the re-development of our two family properties (The Olde Coach House and the Wagoners) into six one-bedroom apartments which were completed in Spring 2018.

They are:

  • Skyfall

  • Silver Sea

  • Sundancer

  • Moonraker

  • Sun Seeker

  • Kovva

Today, it remains a true Cornish, family run business.

There has been many changes, from the on-going renovation of existing properties to the conversion of the farm buildings. A total of 20 properties are currently operated as self-catering cottages, all offering the flexibility of any day arrival/departure.

We all worry about what to expect when going away, that's why we work hard to make sure our properties won't let you down, if there is anything you need we are on-site so you can make the most out of your stay in Cornwall.

We look forward to welcoming you to Wooldown Holiday Cottages and hope you enjoy it here as much as we do.
